While I have been active on this forum for quite a while, I always stuck to the software side of things, and opted to simply control my MPD box(es) through some external client, such as phpmp or mpdroid. Now, however, I started my own hardware build. My progress so far can be seen at

It's not a tutorial, but it's quite heavy on links, which may be useful for some people.
In any case, I hope to finish this at some point, but I do not have a schedule or deadline. I've gotten as far as this in about a month though, so that's pretty good, by my standards
