Hello. I thought I'd just point out that I've started on a project (based heavily upon this MightOhm one -- thank you!) where I am trying to make a Asus WL-520gU into a wireless webcam server.
In order to get this done, I've had to compile with kernel 2.6.x, use external mass storage (using a flash drive), installing extensions and apps on the flash drive, etc. Even if I don't succeed in making a WebCam server, I hope that something I post will be helpful to others.
I'm not done yet (as I write this) with the series, and would love it if anyone could comment suggestions (here, or on the blog).
First article.
Second article.
And, the blog in general:

It's a new blog, and so any comments or suggestions are welcome!

It's really great to see someone working on the 2.6 kernel with this router. If you do get a chance to play with the wireless, please let us know what the status of b43 is. I keep seeing that it should be working "any day now" and truthfully I haven't checked in weeks, so for all I know wireless is working now...

Hi
Just wanted to let you know I'm subscribed to both your blogs
I've got my own WL-520GU project and should be posting about it within the next couple of weeks.
(2.4 Kernel, LIBFDTI to control USB Relay Board, IP Camera, Floats...)

Re: Kernel 2.6, Webcams, Mass Storage, etc.
Did you manage to get kernel 2.6 working on the router? I want to try 2.6 because I don't really need wireless but the OpenWRT WL-520GU wiki page seems to say that 2.6 won't boot without some patches. Is this fixed now?
Re: Kernel 2.6, Webcams, Mass Storage, etc.
I'm now compiling the 2.6 version.
I will test on my wl-500gpv2 as soon I have the serial pin on the board.
I will say to you if work and ask to MightOhm if he can post into mirror.
