Streaming USB sound card input to network

I was thinking my internet radio (WL-520gU) could also make a useful baby monitor, if I could stream audio from the currently unused USB sound card input to the network (perhaps to another internet radio for playback!). Wifi radio in reverse!

Has anyone done anything like this, or have a clue how it can be done using Jeff's standard wifi radio firmware as the base?

Has anyone ported icecast to Openwrt? I think it has been mentioned on this forum before. I don't know if anyone has ever managed to get it working.

That is one option. There might be others.
