Hi Jeff - thanks for the suggestions. After doing that, the wireless part worked again (I can access telnet over wireless network). But the LAN part still did not work. Maybe I'll try it on another computer to see if the LAN connection works there. Is it okay just to have the wireless working? You said it is important in case there is some failure, and the serial port doesn't really work anymore.

The issue is that if the router fails to connect to your wifi network, you have no way to access a shell without LAN working (since the serial console gets disabled to use for the LCD display). Then you might have to reflash the router and start from scratch if you change your WEP key, SSID, etc without first updating them on the 520gu.
