Improving the Image Quality of the GardePro A3 Trail Camera
I recently acquired a GardePro A3 Trail Camera, which except for the positioning of the light sensor and motion-test LED appears to be identical to the Agitato A323. I was not satisfied with the quality of the images from the GardePro A3 and did a considerable amount of experimenting to find ways to...

Gauss field shielding the Laptop computer - for health
Some data, from the point of view of health physics, on the EMF fields radiated by three different laptops, and the effect of simple magnetic shielding : http://ki3u.byethost3.com/Garden-Kitchen-Health/Laptop%20Gauss%20shielding/Laptop%20Gauss%20shielding.html If anyone has similar data, please shar...

analog indicator for the Teknetics Patriot Metal Detector
I've added a simple analog output circuit to my Teknetics Patriot metal detector. It feeds a micro-ammeter which is mounted at the Patriot's control / display head. Aside from the immediate benefit of overcoming the Patriot's LCD display's lack of backlighting, the analog circuit has its own semi-in...

Pancake GM Probe with CDV-700 : simple BNC adapter
The 6993 GM tube in the CDV-700 Geiger Counter / Survey Meter operates at 900 Volts. There are many GM tubes and radiation detectors which include 900 Volts within their operating range, and some are housed in probes with a female BNC connector. I was interested in trying my CDV-700 with other tubes...

A simple ballpark check of a Gaussmeter's accuracy
I describe a very simple test setup for checking the accuracy of the SJ200 Gaussmeter,

Re: Adafruit Metro M4 Express Arduino with Windows XP
I now have a reliable procedure for the Arduino IDE Serial Monitor working with the M4 board under Windows XP.
I've put the procedure steps as an Addendum in the original webpage :

Re: Adafruit Metro M4 Express Arduino with Windows XP
It turns out that one additional check is necessary - I've added it to step 8.) : 8.) The device manager now shows, instead of the Adafruit board, the UF2 Bootloader - change its port to an unused one (e.g. COM21 ). Ignore the listing for the dummy UF2. In the device manager, under Disk drives, chec...

Re: Adafruit Metro M4 Express Arduino with Windows XP
I found a couple of typos in the step by step procedure which I have corrected :
In steps 5.) and 6.) the example should read COM20, not COM21.

Adafruit Metro M4 Express Arduino with Windows XP
I've got one of the relatively new Adafruit Metro M4 Express microcontroller boards (still marked BETA) working reliably with an old (2003) Dell Inspiron 5100 32-bit laptop running Windows XP. For those familiar with the Arduino world it will be no surprise that overcoming the "could not find d...
