Re: Enclosures and antennas?
If I had access to a laser cutter I would use that. You could whip up a case in a few hours with a laser cutter and some acrylic or thin sheets of wood.

Re: RS232 level shifter
That adapter looks fine, and I don't see any problem with using the router's 3.3V supply to power it. Don't forget to hook up the ground as well. You'll be using all 4 pins on the serial header.

Re: Enclosures and antennas?
The AM/FM antenna on a boom box probably won't work very well - I wouldn't recommend it. You'll need a Wi-Fi antenna of some sort. You would be better off somehow adapting the antenna that comes with the router to fit the boom box. I'm using the amp out of an old set of PC speakers for my radio, so ...

Re: WL-520gU Project - Floating Camera
Cool project! Probably the first time an WL-520gU has gone to sea.
Looking forward to seeing the video - those bilge pumps look seriously overpowered for pushing around that little router. It should be exciting!

Wifi Radio project parts 9 and 10 coming soon...
It's been a long while since I posted part eight, but parts nine and ten are finally on the way. Part 9 will go online later this week, part 10 should follow shortly after. Sorry it's taken so long, but I really wanted to finish these after putting so much work into the radio in the past couple week...

Re: Audio Drivers
Not that I am aware of. Best bet would be to try another USB-audio adapter.

Re: A few questions about the instructions
To date, every time I have screwed something up, I have been able to power cycle the router, hold down the reset button, and upload a new firmware image. Despite this, there are probably some cases where something going seriously wrong with the firmware could corrupt the bootloader and TFTP rescue a...

Re: MPD version used for this project
The project uses 0.13.2 because at the time I started it, that was the current version. I later played with 0.14 and found that the glib2 dependency ate up all my flash, and streaming wasn't working because of a libcurl problem that I never got to look into.

Re: Kernel 2.6, Webcams, Mass Storage, etc.
Rob - It's really great to see someone working on the 2.6 kernel with this router. If you do get a chance to play with the wireless, please let us know what the status of b43 is. I keep seeing that it should be working "any day now" and truthfully I haven't checked in weeks, so for all I k...
