Re: Any chance for a board to be produced?
Possibly after the Maker Faire, later this month. There was some talk of a kit being produced but it hasn't materialized yet, so I may go off on my own and make a PCB for the AVR/LCD circuit.

Re: A few questions about the instructions
Matt - I think you're right, in that the packages should already be selected. However, I have had mixed results, and it could be entirely my fault. It's also possible that only the standard packages are selected when you "select all packages by default", not addons like mpc/mpd. At a minim...

Re: MPD plugins
I haven't tried Ogg Vorbis, but I suspect that it may require some options to be set at compile time. I can check the next time I'm playing with the radio, but it will be a couple weeks. Can you give me a link to an example stream?

Re: mpc error: "unsupported URI scheme"???
This happens with mpd 0.14 and I think has to do with a libcurl issue. I downgraded back to mpd 0.13.2 because of this (and because mpd 0.14 also depends on glib2, which takes up a few hundred kB of flash!).

Re: Playing MP3 files off a PC
The version of mpd (0.14) that gets built with 8.09 (or whatever gets checked out by default) is really bloated because of the glib2 dependency, as you discovered. I reverted back to mpd 0.13.2 and saved a few hundred kB of flash. You can try to figure out how to check out an older version of a pack...

Re: Playing MP3 files off a PC
It's actually not 7.09 but something in between 7.09 and 8.09RC1. I misstated it as 7.09 a couple times before I realized that I had downloaded the source from the svn trunk instead of the 7.09 branch. I speculate that you could actually use packages off of openwrt.org without issue, but I could be ...

Re: Can't send commands to ASUS via serial
Turn off flow control and see if that fixes it.

Re: who is using USB mass storage?
Chris, I had a lot of headaches with mpd 0.14. It depends on glib2, which is huge - several hundred Kb - and I also couldn't get streams to work because of a libcurl issue. I ended up reverting back to 0.13.2. You can try installing 0.13.2 and see if that fixes your problems - it should free up some...
