I dont use either of those ranges, and following the tutorial the asus got assigned an IP off my network and was accessible via that IP.
Check your DHCP server log or status page to see what IP the asus has been assigned.

Re: Progress on the 520GC...
Im not too keen on relying on an external power supply for regulation. The one that I got with my 520GU has an output that goes all over the place depending on draw, and to get a half decent looking one from a shop is about $20 or so - close to what I paid for the routers. Suprising how many things ...

Progress on the 520GC...
Since they are available I am hoping to get stuff working on them. They only have 3.3v available in them, the supplied power adapter is a junk transformer based 9VDC one that gives between 11 and 13v depending on the AC voltage - not what you want going into your devices. What I have done is solder ...

Re: usb hub
I am using a crap-tastic $1 hub - its the sort that half the time only work as USB1.1, do for me on my desktop PC but on the asus they are fine and do USB2 speeds sweet as. The xitel USB audio device I have used has a philips chip in it. Not tried the cheapie device since it sounded so bad on the co...

Re: Decent audio adapters.
using alsamixer gets the levels up, but it certainly doesnt sound the same as the same device on windows 7 with foobar2000. Much loss of clarity it seems, and thats even on flac files that I have on the USB stick so I think its getting some poor processing going on somewhere along the way or the har...

Re: FIXED - mpd wont install.
I have had to restart from scratch about 20 times now so its not exactly a big deal ;) Now I have it sort of working on the USB drive storage is a non issue. For some reason its not always switching over with that script on boot every time, but as booting is a seldomly done thing at this stage I wil...

Re: Installing python to USB
I dont know how well it works, but I have just managed to get this http://www2.kaufmanfamily.net:8080/blog/2009/08/a-better-pivotroot-for-openwrt working so that I could install more packages then would fit in the asuses flash. Its working, a little slow via a crappy hub (says 2.0 ontop but windows ...

Re: Decent audio adapters.
Its working now, but the level is way down on the same stream being played on the same device in windows - the volume in mpc is 100% and thats as high as it goes to. I edited the mpd.conf so that the oss mixer was /dev/sound/mixer which is there and has the same numbers as the one that appears from ...

Sorted it out
deleted statuses in /usr/lib/opkg - was the only place I could find reference to that version.
