VR1 regulation

Post by lunobili »

Hi,
I have assembled the kit and it was fun and works well. I just have a question about the VR1 variable resistor. I turned the screw all the way to the left, turned on the kit and started to hear clicks and see the LED blinking right away without having to turn the screw. I anyway turned it 45 degrees from the starting position just because the instructions seems to imply that once you start hearing clicks the screw should be turned further.
Is this correct/expected?

Thanks,
Luca

Yes, this is normal. Anywhere between 45 and 180 degrees on the dial should give satisfactory results. The exact behavior depends on your kit and your SBM-20 geiger tube.

I suggest using fresh batteries when you adjust VR1.
