USB-audio adapters known to work with OpenWrt/mpd

Wanted to contribute to this inspiring project...

I confirmed that the following two USB devices works:

Those buttons are usb hid buttons for sure. To making it work you should install the USB HID kernel module, and then use an application like triggerhappy to associate buttons with commands.

I got them for $.19 a few days ago. The price has gone up to $.23 though.

I just got a couple of these the other day. They play, but the sound drops out every few seconds for me. Other kinds I've tried do work, so I know it's not just my own setup that is causing it...

It works perfectly on a PC running Windows 7 but it is not perfect on the router (OpenWrt with mpd), I hear some 'static' noise (like the noise on a vinyl record). I've played with the sampling rate conversion on mpd (44.1kHz and 48kHz), configured the interface as alsa and as oss, changed the interpolator for "Best Sinc Interpolator", also played with buffer sizes, but the problem remains the same. CPU usage is low (typically bellow 10%), and there is still free memory and the swap space is not even used. Any suggestion on this problem?

Until now, I could not find what chipset this sound card has. I don't have another one to compare with, but I can confirm that sound quality is good, no clicks or pops. I have it connected to a Tp-Link TL-WR703N portable router, playing madplay. Just plug and play, no other changes necessary.

Can anybody use hw volume buttons of this sound adapter? I use Asus WL-500gP v2 with MightyOhm's firmware.

I have this adapter connected to a TP-Link TL-WR703N portable router, playing madplay. The hw buttons don't work, with my configuration. I have a set of speakers with volume control, so this is not an issue for me, I can control the volume directly from the speakers. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Yes it helps. My construction will be the same as yours. I don't force digitally solution of volume control.
