Stuck on part 5

Post by denniston »

Hi everyone,
I'm new to openwrt, but quite familiar with hotrodding routers. I picked up a WL-520GU the other day,then had to wait for weeks for my usb sound card to arrive from HongKond. Wish I would have paid a little more attention when I was bidding :)

Anyway I have installed the openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx and got through the first 4 steps, but when I try to "opkg install kmod-usb-audio kmod-usb-ohci" I get this error:

Collected errors:
* pkg_hash_fetch_best_installation_candidate: Packages for kmod-usb-audio found, but incompatible with the architectures configured
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kmod-usb-audio.
* pkg_hash_fetch_best_installation_candidate: Packages for kmod-usb-ohci found, but incompatible with the architectures configured
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kmod-usb-ohci.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, assuming you used the .trx file in the tutorial, and Asus hasn't changed architectures on us, this should work...

Try typing "opkg update" followed by "opkg install kmod-usb-ohci" again, and see what happens.

You might want to post the output of dmesg as well. What audio device are you using?

I never really thought about it, but my audio adapter is a Hong Kong special that I got off ebay. I thought it looked alot like the SYBA that you suggested so I went for it. Do you think that might be the problem?

Did you compile your own trx file? I suspect you did, based on this line:

Code: Select all

Linux version 2.4.37.5 (sandro@openwrt-sdk) (gcc version 3.4.6 (OpenWrt-2.0)) #3 Thu Jan 7 17:30:25 CET 2010
vs my router

Code: Select all

Linux version 2.4.35.4 (jkeyzer@wavelen) (gcc version 3.4.6 (OpenWrt-2.0)) #3 Mon Dec 1 17:35:57 PST 2008
Something about your setup is making opkg unhappy. Possibly opkg changed and it doesn't like the old package files on my site? I admit I am surprised that there is incompatibility within the same kernel version, but then again I compiled my trx file and packages over a year ago. I suspect that if you match the package repository to the trx (my trx and my repository or your trx and your own repository) then you might have an easier time getting things working.

Alternatively use the trx file that I provide and you should be able to follow the tutorial verbatim.

I'm sure I didn't compile my own kernel, but I may have accidently downloaded and installed the trx file from the openwrt site. I'll reflash the router with your distro and see where we get.

I've reflashed the router, and double checked all the steps and now I get an error before the error I was getting before.
Here's my log:
