Hi Jeff,

Yihaa!!

The Geigerunit package came in yesterday, I immediately fired up my soldering station (Weller WX2 !!), and after about one hour I had a WORKING unit!!!

Great quality components, and the plexiglass casing is just GREAT.

Here is a photo from the unit that I assembled yesterday/afternoon:

THANKS for the great help/kindness!!

MUCH appreciated!!!!!

Did you resolve your problem with the Hackable Devices ordering system?

If not please let me know and I'll look into it.

Hi Jeff,

Now that I got a working Geiger Counter, I would really like to connect it's serial interface-port to a computer, for logging purposes.

I already ordered a FTDI cable (very hard to get!!), and then I only need to know ONE thing:

In your YouTube demo (Geiger Counter Kit Demo, @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4qRyFsi ... re=related)
you see the output on the screen of your laptop.

Which application are you using there?
I guess it's just a serial comms program?
Which one are you using in the video??

And what are the serial settings, or will the program adjust to the FTDI cable, that will set the baudrates etc when it is autodetected/recognized by Windows (7?)

Would be great to get your answers on the abovem Jeff.

Thanks, and 73 de Robbert/PA3BKL

Yes, it is true that I am totally out of stock on Geiger counter kits right now, and I'm not sure when I'll have more.

However, there are still plenty of kits available! You can order from any one of my distributors, both in the US and Europe:

I might have more kits for sale on my site in the next few weeks, but the problem is that my distributors are ordering kits as fast as I can make them! I recommend ordering from one of them if you don't feel like waiting!

Yep, thanks Jeff, I found the tutorial!!

I'm thinking of adding a small display on the geiger-counter.

To do just that, I need to add some code in the microcontroller.

Is the sourcecode that you wrote public domain / available??
