Variable Resistor

Post by robsmoto »

I've ordered several of the GM kits and I was taking inventory of the parts in the first kit. The blue, with white screw, "100 ohm variable resistor" only yields a 0 to 10 ohm range as checked with a multi-meter. I checked this same part in several other kits and found a similar 0 to 10 ohm range. I am assuming that either there is a misprint in the parts list and that the variable resistor should be a 10 ohm VR or that you've gotten a wrong batch of VRs. Please confirm that the VR is supposed to have a 0 to 100 ohm range. Thanks!

I checked the BOM here: http://mightyohm.com/files/geiger/geige ... erials.pdf

It does state that the value is 100 in the BOM, but the description says "Trimmer Resistors - Single Turn 3/8 10ohms 10% 0.5Watts Square"

I think it's just a misprint in the BOM because it's in the schematic as 10 as well.

Yes, it's a 10 Ohm trimmer (confusingly labeled 100, as in 10 ohms * 10^0).

That mistake shows up in a couple places, when I rev the instructions I'll fix it. Sorry for the confusion.
