Mullard MX145

Post by dexterslab »

Thought some of you might be interested in this; i recently acquired a british made Mullard MX145 GM tube and is working just fine on my mighty ohm counter. It's Gamma only so my sample of Fiestaware only makes a small difference to the counts but i'm typically seeing 150-200CPM background using this tube.

Thanks for sharing this. Are the Mullard tubes common? I've never seen one before!

Mine is the first mullard i have seen too so quite rare i would say. its from an environmental monitor that was used in Trawsfyndd Nuclear Power Station in North Wales, UK before it was decommissioned in the 1990s. I picked the tube and monitor up off ebay. The tube dates from around 1974.

I just need to find a decent gamma source to properly test it.
