Re: wireless connection issues
Then I guess I use TKIP as well :). Good to hear you have things working. The fact remains that OpenWrt is geared towards it being used as a router, and that is where the focus of the development is. Setting it up as a wifi client is a secondary use that doesn't get the same amount of attention and ...

Re: wireless connection issues
That's weird indeed. My WPA PSK is a 63 character random string with special characters, and that works fine.

Re: wireless connection issues
Does the wifi led ever go on, or does it stay off completely? The reason I'm asking is that I don't see "option disabled 0" in the config block for the wifi device. So maybe it's simply durned off completely. Your wifi key is indeed entered in plain text. Make sure you get a nice, long pas...

Re: WL-520gU openWRT failsafe mode?
You may have simply disabled the wireless radio (the "air" light not coming on is a clue ;) ). Attach it to your wired network, and see if you can ping it from there. If everything fails, you'll have to reflash. If it makes you feel better, I must've reflashed my mpd-box a dozen times befo...

Re: flashing with out ftdi cable
Seriously, I have flashed OpenWrt dozens of times onto a bunch of different routers, and I've NEVER used a serial cable, nor have I felt the need to do so. In fact, the instructions on the OpenWrt website don't even mention the serial cable. It may be nice to see the boot-process on the router, but ...

Re: Decent audio adapters.
Creative has the SoundBlaster X-Fi Go, which is supposed to provide high-quality sound. Now I haven't tried this (At EUR 50 it's too expensive for this project), but I have owned several Creative products over the years, and they have always provided superb sound quality. http://www.soundblaster.com...

Does your version of MPD support streaming? To find out, execute "mpd --version" on the command line. This will give you a list of supported formats and outputs.

Re: Memory (RAM) Woes
I'd go for putting swapspace on a USB drive. That's what I do anyway. Yes, the flash memory will wear out eventually, but this won't happen quickly. In the meantime, it's very reliable. For reference: There's an OpenWrt-derived distribution that I use (PacketProtector) which stores its swap-file on ...

Re: Integrate OpenWrt into an old cassette recorder
15x20 cm is pretty big. That would almost fit a mini-itx motherboard (17x17). So I suspect most routers' boards would fit in that space, assuming you have enough vertical clearance. I really don't know if there's any support for the LCD display you have, and I also don't know if the average router h...

Samsung has a range of photo-frames which (on windows) can double as a mini-monitor, of which I have the SPF-75H (7", 800x480). So far, I hadn't been able to find any info on Linux support for these frames, but today I stumbled across a site that had the necessary bits, and I managed to get the...
