Re: alternatives to the WL-520gU
Just check the table of hardware . E.g. the TP-Link TL-WR2543ND supports both openwrt and 5ghz. Also this router has 8MB of flash, so you don't need to compile the firmware yourself, to fit into the flash, like Jeff had to do for the 4MB on the WL520GU. Just check the following for any router: Does ...

Re: Problem downloading from Mightyohm
It's kind of weird that the router has the IP 192.168.0.11 on br-lan, and at the same time 192.168.0.6 on eth0.1 I think it might be easier if you tried to solve this via some more direct communication for (Skype, Facebook chat, email or something else), instead of using this forum. Just send me an ...

Re: Problem downloading from Mightyohm
Try doing nothing to the network settings. Just connect the router via the WAN port to the network. Connect your PC to a LAN port on the Asus. Telnet to 192.168.1.1 (I think that is the default IP).
Seems to me like you just mis-configuring the network. Not like something is wrong with the Asus.

Try out failsafe mode; viewtopic.php?f=2&t=460#p1947
Would save you the trouble of having to reflash all the time.
What about the second alternative?

Re: Problem downloading from Mightyohm
Try setting option ipaddr 192.168.0.10 . What I did was just leave the network config as it was after flashing and connection it to the network via the WAN port. But I didn't need the radio to be wireless. If you want to see some results, try this, and try to fix the network problem some other time....

Re: Problem downloading from Mightyohm
the ip you specify (172.100.0.10) is not in the same subnet as the gateway (192.168.0.1). Which is probably what causes the problem. What is the ip of the gateway, i.e. the router the WL520 is connected to?
