Re: WL-520GC + sound + webcam ?

You know the GC doesn't have a USB port right? You'll have to fiddle around with a few extra components and stuff....is that messing around worth the 5-10EUR in difference to the GU?

/me just went to and left EU.... was thinking of importing GU's to EU for a few other people lol.

Re: Installing openwrt without the serial cable

The switching power supply on the router is, if I remember correctly, for the 3.3V rail that supplies power to the CPU and most of the other digital ICs on the board. The 5V wall wart that comes with the router provides regulated 5V power for the USB port. There could be other things on the 5V rail...

Re: How do I upgrade openWRT on the router?

In Windows you probably have to manually configure your IP settings to be on the same subnet as the router. e.g. 192.168.1.50 with 255.255.255.0 netmask (or 255.255.0.0). The default IP and netmask of the router in the bootloader mode is 192.168.1.1 with 255.255.255.0, and DHCP isn't running...

Re: Installing openwrt without the serial cable

Just for anyone reading... it occured to me after the post the regulated 5V plug-pack might be for the USB. I didn't rely on USB 5V so I happily used 12V supplies for the router power...but it might be directly connected to the USB 5V rail...which might be the reason Asus are using a regulated 5V pl...

Re: Installing openwrt without the serial cable

USB Port? That'll be the obvious place if I were after a 5V source :) EDIT : ABOVE ADVICE WITHDRAWN :) MightyOhm : Did you know the 520GU has a decent switch-mode power supply on it that'll take up to *crap I forgot...* somewhere around 16-18V? Magnifying glass + Google tells you alot, I've used my...

Re: wl-530gc differences

Actually the 520GCs here in Aus seem to have only 2MB flash as opposed to the 4MB on the GU and there are some other differences which I've forgotten. I had to order my 520GU online since most brick and mortar shops either didn't stock it or were out of stock...postage from Aus to NZ should be reaso...

Re: Installing openwrt without the serial cable

You can indeed flash the router without opening it up at all. The only difference will be that you won't know when the flash is complete. Just follow MightyOhm's flashing instructions but wait for 5-10 minutes to ensure the flash is complete. 10 to be on the safe side :) I usually walk off and do so...

Re: WL-520gU Project - Floating Camera

Router runs busybox httpd serving 3 main files for the client, mfc.html, mfc.css, mfc.js. Simple Web GUI buttons, zoomed in like hell on the laptop, intended for a WinMo/Android/iPhone. Each button press sends a xmlhttp request to a shell script, which does some very basic logic and simply runs a de...
