Re: Controlling a microcontroller through bluetooth

If you want to send serial data over the bluetooth link, these modules are very inexpensive and readily available:

Re: HV Rescue Shield 2 hardware update

The existing shield uses an LT3464 boost converter to step 5V up to 12V. The MAX662A is nice in that it doesn't require an external inductor, but it's considerably more expensive than the LT3464 + external components. Like you, I'm more of a hardware guy, so I'd probably look for a software develope...

Re: Getting garbage from FTDI

Did you check the fuse bytes? The default fuse bytes will not work, the clock will run very slow. This may explain the issue with the baud rate.

Re: Mightyohm Geiger Counter & Raspberry Pi

Check if pin 1 is shorted to ground, or if you have pin 1 and 3 swapped.

Re: Programming with Arduino

Make sure you set the configuration fuses as specified in Makefile. # Fuse configuration: # For a really nice guide to AVR fuses, see http://www.engbedded.com/fusecalc/ # LFUSE: SUT0, CKSEL0 (Ext Xtal 8+Mhz, 0ms startup time) LFUSE = 0xEE # HFUSE: SPIEN, BODLEVEL0 (Serial programming enabled, Browno...

Re: Getting garbage from FTDI

Did you purchase a kit? If so, the microcontroller should come pre-flashed with the correct firmware and fuse bytes. If not, make sure you set the fuse bytes correctly. The baud rate error is a sure sign that something is wrong with the crystal or clock configuration fuses.

Re: HV Rescue Shield 2 hardware update

Erik,

I've been considering a version of the shield that supports ISP.

Why do you suggest the MAX662A?

Thanks for the feedback, it is very helpful.
